E.L. Konigburg

E.L. Konigsburg died this weekend.  She was 83.

In 1967, her very first 2 books, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and Hennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth won the Newbery and Newbery Honor Awards.  She is the only author to have won both a Newbery and a Newbery Honor in the same year.

Elaine Lobl Konigsburg even illustrated some of her own books.

What is your favorite E.L. Konigsburg book?

  1. A sad day to loose another wonderful author. I think the Mixed-up files was my favorite.

  2. Mixed Up Files was my favorite book, too. I used to read aloud to my 5th grade classes. They always seemed to enjoy it, too.
