Decorating Your Library

Do you decorate your library for Halloween?

If so what do you do?  Something big?  Something small?

Do you have some good Halloween decorating ideas that do not take too much time, effort, or money?

  1. I definately decorate and my kids know where every decoration is suppose to be. They can't remember their name on a paper but try moving a decoration to a new spot and I will be told!

  2. The library staff at West, dresses in costume on Halloween! I usually run around with my IPAD and take pictures of people that day also.

  3. Well, here where we have so many different cultures any decor I could think of might offend someone. We had a community fair and carnival tuesday night. I read stories. I did pass out candy. And then I went home and passed out.

  4. We decorate for everything. I have this wonderful volunteer who has been in this library longer than I have. His most favorite part of his job is to get the decorations out. We couldn't find our Halloween decorations this year because someone had moved them for us. Wow was Earl ever sad. I finally located them in time to have them up for about a week. Everyone was happy, Earl because he could decorate, the kids because they love anything that has a festive feeling, and me because I really don't have to bother with any of it.

  5. What about decorations for Christmas? Again, we don't decorate. We used to have a teacher who would dress up as the Grinch. I, or another teacher, would read the story and have students act out the parts. I miss him now that he retired. Who would make a good grinch?.............

  6. I have East High's library decorated all year long. We went from Fall-Halloween-Thanksgiving and now Christmas. The students love it. I didn't think High School students would care about decorations but they really do. If the counter is "decorationless" they ask when I am putting up the new ones. Now that Christmas/Hanukkah/Kawanza are up they are awestruck. I think it gives a "welcome to this safe haven" feeling in our school.
p.s. After Christmas the snowmen take over.
