Aren't iPads Just Great?

What was one fun or useful thing that you used your iPad for over the long weekend?

  1. I joined My Fitness Pal, a free app that helps you track food and exercise and is highly recommended by Consumer Reports. Now let's see if I can follow through!

  3. I played yahtzee with people from some where out in the big world! Not so useful but a good way to waste time. It is also addicting so I am going to have to watch out or limit my time. I, also, paid some bills.

  4. I checked to see if it was a red-burn day, so I could light my fireplace if it wasn't. Still did a ton of reading -despite a lack of a cozy fire ;)

  5. I read a book - "Vienna's Prelude". It is an excellent historical fiction about WWII. This is the first book in a series. I also had to keep up on Words with Friends with my daughters.

  6. It's so much easier with the ipad to sneak in some time to check and answer emails and pay bills, which is what I did over the weekend. I also did GoodReads, Facebook, and my account at the SLC public library. Still on my to-do list : Twitter.

  9. My two year-old granddaughter demanded to play on gamma's ipad on Sunday. She wowed the adults in the crowd with what she could do. I have decided to turn over my old ipad to her and just use the new one for me.

  10. I prepared a lesson and read some articles. I also use it to check on my grandkids on Facebook. Of course, my granddaughter Fey, insists on playing Crikeline, Cozmo, and Pat the Bunny.

  11. I wrote up a short history that needed to be turned in then emailed it. I love doing this kind of thing where there's a fair amount of typing on my school iPad insead of my home one because the school one has Siri...so much faster to talk than to type!

  12. I am having an easier time reading books! I absolutely love being able to download books from the library and they are never overdue. I enjoy downloading audio books also. It makes the world so accessible.

I also video taped some students and then I could replay it immediately after wards.

Thanks again for getting them for us!

  13. My daughter has fallen in love with my iPad. I have a hard time finding it sometimes. I love watching YouTube and reading my email. I always read books and play games, too.

  14. I found the most amazing book app for The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. The app uses the camera on the ipad and makes the actual book come to life. The book sprouts arms and legs which move and the pictures become either animated, 3D or interactive. The kids are loving this book app!

  15. I did my taxes on the iPad and used the calculator for help. I am also reading Oprah's book, The 12 Tribes of Hattie on it.

  16. If it were possible to use my iPad here at school... but I can take pictures of students. Last afternoon one of my fellow teachers was standing in front of the elevator when I got off. He was taking a picture of a student sitting on a bench and reading very intently. He said, "Several cute girls have walked by and he hasn't even looked up." I think it would be fun to show some student pictures on the screen as classes are coming in. The iPad is easier to use for taking pictures than Elmo, even if you have no wifi in school. I said that already.

  17. Hey, I just found out you can read websites offline! This won't be as exciting to you who have wifi in your school. Hehe
    16. Read websites offline
Choose Add to Reading List from the share button in Safari (to the left of the URL bar) and you can cache websites for offline reading (in the garden or on a plane, perhaps).
