UELMA and UCET! How great are they!! What has been your past experiences with these conferences? UELMA is coming up on March 13th. UCET is April 3rd and 4th.
I have always enjoyed UELMA, and have thought that it was a great way to show my support of our profession. I am going to try to both UCET and UELMA this year.
I believe that all library teachers should be at UELMA. I have learned a lot over the years. Unfortunately, it is during conferences and book fair this year. Fortunately, my principal values me going to the conference enough that he is going to pay for an all day sub even though students are only at school part of the day so I can go and the book fair can continue. I, also, go to UCET and find it valuable. Despite my disappointed that it is going to mean 2 days away from school instead of just 1, I will be going. Thank goodness for principals that see the value in these professional conferences.
Same Here Julie B! That week is so exhausting, I can't imagine driving to Ogden (And presenting for Kissthebook). I am super sad. Last year I learned a ton at a Big6 class. I won't be attending! But I am going to try really hard to go to UCET.

I too have been able to go most years for the past several. I find them very informative and energizing. They pump me up and motivate me to try new things.
I have loved going to both UELMA and UCET. I learn tons from both. Last year sadly I couldn't go because of knee surgery. I feel that the information they give is so valuable to our profession.
I really love both of these conferences. I learn so much at both of them. I really look forward to going each year. Sadly, because I can't take the two days off for UCET, I will not go this year. I do plan on going to UELMA. I have been supported by my principal and have gone to Peggy Sharp and to Jonathan Hunt, both through BER.
I love both conferences and believe that Utah is so lucky to have such quality conferences available to us nearby. Both conferences rival national conferences that I have been to and are such a good value.
I am excited to go to both. I have used sticky notes for finding details in text and then categorizing the stickies into three ideas for the body of an essay. That was from a presentation by the librarians at Weber State. Last year there was a presentation of some neat things to do with an iPad. what do you know? I had one!
I have loved going to UELMA all these years. It is so much fun to connect with my library friends and just have an opportunity to hear others talk about what I am most interested in. I am looking forward to this years conference. Hope to see you all there.

I really enjoyed learning from one librarian at UELMA how she had students who helped her in the library. This spurred me on to have my students play a more active role in the library. At the end of last year, I had about 20 kids who wanted to come in and help me. I assigned them certain shelves that were theirs to maintain. They helped me with anything that needed to be done and were wonderful. The experience has made me closer to my students.
I also love UELMA because I'm inspired by chatting with other librarians.
