Over and Over Again

In the movie, Groundhog Day, Bill Murray lives the same day over and over again.

If you had to watch the same movie over and over again---every single day---what movie would you like it to be?

  1. That is a hard one, I don't really like to pick a favorite, but I do love Singing in the Rain closely followed by Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I would just sing and dance my way through every day, holding a book and reading as well!

    1. I guess I'm in that category, too, add Brigadoon and Bye Bye Birdie, and, oh, wait, all the old Broadway musicals :) And, there will be a book in my hand, too!

  2. I love watching the same movies over and over (and the same books). There is always something new to appreciate or a tone that improves my day. Like visiting with a friend. When I was a kid I watched Goonies and Labyrinth so many times that I am sure I could recite the whole scripts even today. I have been on a Bernardo Bertolucci movie kick, watching Little Buddha and Stealing Beauty a ton. Also The Big Blue directed by Luc Besson. They are hauntingly beautiful.
I also re-watch Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings quite often as well. Would re-watch Star wars if I had them.

  3. Pride and Prejudice 24/7 is the way I would go. Collin Firth version, naturally. Followed by Persuasion and Sense and Sensibility.

  4. I like a little 'heart', a little mystery and a little humor in my movies. This last month I was sad to see Peter O'Toole pass, because his movies were great! I just remembered, I love the movie "Second Hand Lions" starring Robert Duvall and Michael Caine as two old retired spies out on a farm, adopting aging circus animals and a neglected boy, regaling him with stories and shooting at traveling salesmen!

  5. I love Star Wars too! I could always watch Emma over and over. I have also been known to watch the different versions of Emma over and over. My daughter and husband moan when they hear the name Emma. Emma- Not Again!

  6. I'm not one for re-watching movies (nor rereading books); I'm always curious about what I haven't seen or read. Because I love stories dealing with big transformations, am a romantic, and need connect with the need for music in one's life, I'd have to say The Sound of Music. I have re-watched it numerous times and always enjoy it. Also, there's a Korean movie I adore and I can't recall the name....I will have to repost with that one.

  7. Believe it or not.....I always enjoy RANDOM HARVEST (Greer Garson). It is in black and white!
Are there any of you out there that love the oldies?
I enjoy the movie GILDA with the sensational Rita Hayworth. Of course, CASABLANCA with Ingrid Bergman is a classic.

  8. White Christmas, hands down! It's silly and touching. I cry every time they sing "We'll follow the old man wherever he wants to go..."

  9. Even though it got really bad reviews...I loved the 2006 version of Lake House with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. I have this fondness for parallel universe stories. I also love the episode of Star Wars 2nd generation when Picard passes out on Enterprise and goes to another reality where he marries and has a family, but on the Enterprise, he is only out for 20 min. I find that kind of plot very intriguing. I have seen that episode a few times.

  10. I have a small collection of movies that I like to rewatch every so often. Picking just one would be difficult. My movie-watching mood bounces around from romantic comedies to musicals, to science fiction, to classics. I don't usually choose anything too heavy or serious, though. I like to laugh or sing or be taken to the past or the future or an imaginary world. Groundhog Days is one that I will rewatch sometimes. It makes me laugh every time.

  11. I like Second Hand Lions too. I would say Jane Eyre. Independent woman, single, falls for brooding handsome, but mysterious, man. Oh, and he's rich. That's what fantasies are made of. Plus, there are several different versions of the movie. You didn't say anything about versions.

  14. I am not sure I could watch the same movie every day over and over again. However I could watch it every month or so...I love Les Miserables, there's an old black and white version that is one of my favorites. Then there is "While You Were Sleeping" and a particular favorite for a good laugh is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." I don't think I can choose just one, as if you couldn't already see that.

  15. I really don't know that I would want to watch a movie over and over again now. I watch reruns of NCIS over and over again just because I like to see Mark Harmon:) Cary Grant would be a great second choice. I love all the Cary Grant movies. It would be hard to choose just one. I can't remember the name of the movie right now but it's the one where he is a spy on an island during WWII and has to rescue a school of girls. I really liked that one. I could watch that many many times over.

  16. I would vote for Hunt for Red October, or Singing in the rain. OR just give me the 41 episodes of Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett, or the Connections series with James Burke, or The Civil War by Burnes.

  17. I am not one to re-watch movies very often, but we always have a Star Wars marathon on New Year's Eve. I love the Lord of the Rings series, and I have seen most of the movies that have been mentioned, some more than once. What I have really enjoyed is watching all the old TV series that I missed while I was raising my kids. I never had time to watch TV back then. Just watched the Lone Ranger this weekend and I haven't laughed that hard for a long time.

  18. I am reminded that somehow my brother got hold of an airline version copy of Hopscotch with Walter Mathau (swear words dubbed over, steamy scenes removed, etc. to make it PG13 rated). My father loved it and could watch it over and over again.

  19. I love "Its a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. I think of all the people in my life who have made such a difference and how blessed I am because of them.

  20. I have a couple of favorite movies, I like the classics. I love watching the Sound of Music, although the new tv version wasn't my favorite. I also like Roman Holiday. The last time I saw that movie it was part of the summer movies in the park. It was lots of fun watching a favorite movie with friends on a beautiful summer night.

  21. While my husband and I were in St. George during the January holiday, we went to the movie theater one afternoon and were so taken by the "The Book Thief". We marveled at how well Leisel and Rudy played their roles. I had already determined the "Book Thief" to be my favorite current book and was truly surprised that the movie was not a disappointment, but worthy of the book.

  22. There's no way I could watch the same movie every day over and over. I'm too much like the kids...it would bore me to tears.
