I have never been much of a hat wearer but I will definitely make an effort to find something really appropriate next Wed. I wonder what the students at East will think when I show up in some kind of outlandish hat. You know teenagers. They will undoubtedly have something to say. It should be interesting.
I remember seeing that hat on someone going to the Royal Wedding of Will and Kate. The other place I have seen amazing hats is in New York City for their Easter parade.
I think this a fun idea, Leslie. I wanna see what all the kids gathered in the doorway and sidewalk outside Highland say as we all parade past :) My students here would live it, teenagers will probably just shake their heads at the strange adults...
Leslie, your hat looks like it belonged to Edgar Allen Poe. I just researched Poe and found aspects of his life very macabre not unlike "The Raven" hat you will wear. A hat like that will probably be made "NEVERMORE"!
Loved the picture. I think my mom had a hat like that. I remember as a 3rd grader begging her to wear her leopard hat to parent day at school. She had a flair for hats unfortunately I do not. See you tuesday
Jeanne, then you and I will have a contest to be the goofiest -- because I just don't look good in them either - but I love them! I always wish I had the courage to wear one to church... I should have been alive in the 40's :)
It took me far out of my comfort zone to create a hat & then actually wear it in front of others, but it turned out to be a very happy experience. It was a lot of fun seeing all the different & interesting hats.
That was great fun Leslie! I loved all the great hats. We have a great group of librarians. And Karen your hat was my favorite, perfect for a librarian!
Sort of Edgar Allan Poe ish. Were any birds harmed in the creation of the hat?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is - no birds were harmed, but there are a lot of fashion critics turning over in their graves.
DeleteHee, hee. I'd love a Poe hat. I wonder what passing ravens would think.
DeleteYou should come to my church to see some 'real' hats:)
ReplyDeleteRIP - Tom Clancy!!

ReplyDeleteOh no! I will miss it, book fair! Take lots of pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to be a crazy man loosing his hair to wear a hat - but it helps. I will have bookfair too, but I hope to at least put in an appearance.

ReplyDeleteWasn't there a children's book about people walking around with bird hats?
ReplyDelete"She's wearing a dead bird on her head." by Kathryn Lasky

ReplyDeleteSo hard to choose which hat! Do I look scary or goofy? Tomorrow you will find out!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I'll look goofy no matter what kind of hat I wear. Hats are just not my thing.

DeleteIf I don't make it to the meeting, I will send you a picture of my hat.
ReplyDeleteLeslie - What a fun idea and what a fun time! Thanks!!
