So we were in NYC this December, and my husband was using his smart phone to find our way to Little Italy, but I just knew we were going in the wrong direction. Guess who was right? (not that it was a contest, or anything :-) )Sometimes technology doesn't take care of everything. But, having said that, it usually makes things a whole lot easier. My kids can't imagine trying to coordinate with friends without a cell phone.
I enjoy the maps on my Ipad, and goole maps on my desktop, to just look over the geography and lay of the land. It has helped me to understand visually just how my world fits together. I also did a little searching to find that it is possible to connect to the Skyline Drive from Salina Canyon, so I may have a little trip ahead of me this summer.
I have a CityMaps on my iPad but my GPS that I carry in the car is what saves me. I even downloaded maps of Ireland on it before my trip (pre-owning an iPad days)and it was so much easier to listen to "Daniel" tell me where to turn than try to read the printed AA Roadway (like Google Maps)directions. Though I did get tired of his saying "U-turn is possible"... :)
Not only do I use my map app on my phone for directions, but it has also turned into my phone directory...look up the place, click on their phone number.
I use google maps, but I love the app on my phone, WAZE. It talks to me while I am driving. It will report any accidents or problems on the route, and you can let others know of problems on the road while you are out and about. It is a free app which is even nicer.
