Today is Marian Karpisek's birthday. She is 75 years old, and she is still advocating for school libraries!
Marian was the library supervisor before Lesley M., and she was a wonderful supervisor when I was the librarian at Washington Elementary.
Did any of you work with Marian?
I never had the chance to work with her but I've heard marvelous things about her and the way she managed the library program in our district! Happy birthday to Marian!
ReplyDeleteI came the first year after Marian retired. I was really disappointed that she had left because I had heard so many great things about her. Being in Granite with Sheryl as our supervisor we always heard how great Salt Lake and Mirian were.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Marian. I didn't work with her, but in a sense we all do. Anything she did in the past comes to us all in one way or another. We all contribute to the whole teaching and libray community, there is no escaping!
ReplyDeleteI did not work with her, but also heard many wonderfull things about her. I believe she is one of the reasons we enjoy the vocal support of our administration. Happy Birthday to her.
ReplyDeleteI didn't work with her nor have I heard of her. My loss, I am sure! Happy Birthday to her!

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday - Marian!!!
ReplyDeleteI owe my job to Marian. She is an amazing lady and true librarian through and through. I had never been a librarian before and had done all my training 17 years before, but she had great confidence that I could do the job, and I have never looked back. She was (is) one of the most supportive bosses I've worked with. Right up there at the top with our amazing Julie Atwood. Actually Julie and I started in the library the same year under Marian. How fortune we were to have her as a mentor. And what a tennis player she is too! I want to be like Marian when I grow up.
ReplyDeleteBefore I actually became a librarian, I worked with Marian in a couple of different capacities, one of which was technology - way back when. She was great to work with.
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing her many more birthdays:)
